Roving reporter Charlie Witherspoon headed to the townland of Derrinraw, near Annaghmore, for this report on the activity going on in what looked like a ramshackle and rundown building. Here he met James O’Neill who was making a living as a tinsmith, creating all many of household objects. His son, Eddie, also worked metal on the same premises, but he was a coppersmith and instead of practical objects he was making objects for artistic exhibition.

This report was shot for a series called 7 Degrees West, a kind of early forerunner of Lesser Spotted Ulster, which saw features on old traditions and off-the-beaten-track places. Although the complete programmes, which included studio material, have gone from the archives, a number of these filmed location shoots featuring Charlie on his bike have survived.
