Description

David Dunseith reports for UTV from Aldergrove Airport where a Northern Irish competitor was due to take off in competition as part of the Daily Express National Air Race. Bill Carson was interviewed by Dunseith as he piloted his aircraft and he explained that competitors from the four capitals in the UK would take to the skies on a handicap system taking into account their flight paths and aircraft models. The initial qualifying race would be to Sywell in Northamptonshire and the qualifiers for the final would then engage in a straight race to Biggin Hill in Kent. The race gained quite a bit of national press attention and was even broadcast on BBC1.
