Description

An Outdoor Tour of Bluebell Lane offers a captivating journey through the site’s rich history, cultural significance, and native flora and fauna. Jeneatte Keenan and Aobh McAnulty guide viewers through the forge and roundhouse, a cultural hub hosting storytelling sessions and concerts.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery, the project preserves traditional methods of living and craftsmanship. Participants learn to construct roofing structures using hazel sticks and grow willow for basket weaving. Plans are underway to develop shelters for educational purposes and festivals, providing spaces for craft lessons and communal gatherings.

These shelters, like the ‘fire shelter,’ foster a sense of community around a central fire. The willow field teaches sustainable practices, offering workshops on willow cultivation and craft-making. This hands-on approach blends tradition with modern education and community-building, creating a dynamic space for learning and cultural celebration.
