Description

The film opens with the original song, ‘Technology’, by the Newington Day Centre Carers Group, over still images of the group over the years, performing and engaging in different activities.

Members talk about how they got involved as volunteers with Newington, and the importance of Newington Day Centre in their community. They discuss how the space is a welcoming and homely place for those who need it, particularly based on how community support has changed over time. For many members, they had relatives who lived in Newington and they aim to continue the important work of looking after others. Throughout the film, we see photographs from members over the years attending events, and older photographs of family members that the group brought along.

‘Coming here is like a big, warm hug.’ - Newington Carers Group member.
