The first Balmoral Show took place in 1896 and its popularity has been growing steadily ever since. Considering the many challenges it has faced down the years, the success of the festival is all the more remarkable. Turbulent political and economic climates and a relocation to the site of the former Maze Prison have not diminished its appeal, with tens of thousands attending each year.
