Description

In 1987, British journalist and adventurer Brian Milton made headlines by flying from London to Australia in a microlight, a groundbreaking achievement at the time for its endurance and risk. Following Milton’s achievement, light aircraft had something of a moment in the UK and Northern Ireland. In this report, UTV’s reporter travels to Woodview, Armagh, to meet Anthony Trouton, an aviation enthusiast and the founder of Northern Ireland’s first microlight centre. Trouton discusses the safety features and mechanics of the aircraft with the reporter, before demonstrating the ease and excitement of microlight flying, taking to the skies over Mid Ulster.
