Description

The Skyvan was one of the most famous aircraft constructed at the Shorts Brothers and Harland factory in east Belfast. The company had been approached to design an aircraft to certain specifications back in 1958 and by 1960 they had a design ready for testing, as seen in this film from that year in which a model version demonstrates the proof of concept. The finished aircraft would eventually be given its maiden flight in 1963.
