Description

Cardinal-Elect Conway, arrives in Rome ahead of his elevation to Cardinal, Primate of All Ireland. He is filmed in the beautiful surroundings of St Peter’s Square in the Vatican, with his friend and fellow Cardinal-Elect John Carmel Heenan, Archbishop of Westminster, who was made Cardinal-Priest of Basilica of Saint Sylvester the First, the national church of Britain in Rome.

William John Cardinal Conway (22 January 1913 – 17 April 1977) was an Irish cardinal of the Catholic Church who served as Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland from 1963 until his death and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1965.
