Description

Granny's Threads explores the poignant story of Emer Smith, a talented young artist who inherits her late grandmother Sadie’s sewing box. Within it, she discovers a treasure trove of colourful threads, needles, and thimbles. Inspired by this personal legacy, Emer embarks on a creative journey to honour her grandmother through art. Using the sewing box’s contents, she meticulously embroiders a breathtaking landscape of Mount Errigal, Donegal, weaving her cherished memories of Sadie into the piece.

Through an intimate interview, Emer shares her memories of Sadie, the deep connection she feels as she works on the embroidery, and her artistic techniques. The film also delves into how mementos from loved ones can transform into powerful symbols of remembrance. It serves as a poignant reminder to cherish the present before it becomes a memory.
