Description

World AIDS Day is marked each year on the 1st of December. This UTV report reports on an exhibition at Belfast’s MAC arts venue in December 2022. Named Living, the exhibition aimed to challenge misconceptions about HIV and to celebrate those who live with the condition.

The report shows some of the exhibition in the MAC’s presentation space. Leo Lardie, a Belfast-based activist and the Rainbow Project’s Sexual Health Development officer, is interviewed and he offers some insight into the exhibition.

World Aids Day was first held in 1988 following promotion by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The day was initially dedicated to raising awareness of AIDS and memorialising those who died of the disease.
