Description

Lord Hill was the Chairman of the Independent Television Authority from 1963-67. A former Conservative politician and Cabinet minister he is seen in this silent footage being greeted upon arrival in Northern Ireland and then lunching at Belfast City Hall in the presence of Northern Ireland’s Prime Minister, Terence O’Neill.

However, the purpose of his journey was to visit Ulster Television just ahead of it’s fifth anniversary on air and we can see him being given a tour of the studios. A report of the party held that evening is also available on the Digital Film Archive.
