Description

Those who are fans of local television history were aware of the existence of a time capsule buried beneath an extension of Havelock House. When the former home of UTV was demolished in 2024, the exact whereabouts of this capsule were pondered. This film shows the location as it was placed into the foundations of the extension.

With UTV presenters Anne Gregg and Adrienne McGuill performing the duty alongside UTV Chairman, Lord Antrim, we can even see inside the box before it was sealed to find that it contained a copy of the UTV listings magazine TV Post  as well as local newspapers and a can of film. The box, lined with tinfoil, doesn’t look entirely suitable for a long sojourn underground, but anyone searching for it today can perhaps be reasonably assured that it has survived intact, given that the film shows it was bricked up in its own compartment within the foundations.

Perhaps one day it will be found and opened again.
