Description

Sadly, industrial action was rife in the early 1960s in Northern Ireland as many of the traditional heavy industries faced uncertain futures and job cuts were frequent. This footage shows workers from the Shorts aircraft factory taking their protests to the old Wellington Hall which used to be situated in Wellington Place near the City Hall. They knew that the Minister for Commerce, Brian Faulkner, would be attending an event there and took the opportunity to make their voices heard both to him and the other guests.
