Description

The Circuit of Ireland rally is about to begin. Brian Waddell reports on the upcoming rally and the preparations. He talks to various managers and drivers, including teams from Ford, Renault and BMC. Paddy Hopkirk has returned home to take part. He and Terry Harriman are ready. Ronnie McCartney is driving a Renault for the first time.  

Rosemary Smith, dress designer turned rally driver, is also ready to compete. She has already won the Ladies award four times.  

Brian talks to Ernest McMillan, his friend and co-driver at the Monte Carlo rally. 

Notes

Paddy Hopkirk was Northern Ireland’s most successful rally driver of the 1950s and 1960s. He won the Circuit of Ireland three times and went on to win the Monte Carlo rally in 1964.
