Aviation Minister Roy Jenkins arrives at Sydenham airport and visits Short Brothers. He takes a look around a Belfast freighter aircraft, now modified for passengers, which then takes-off. Minister Jenkins speaks to Jimmy Robinson about the prospect of new work for Shorts. He’s non-committal on how much work Shorts will get from a new deal with France. 

Roy Jenkins was a Labour politician who would become Home Secretary in 1965 and Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1967. He was Home Secretary again, 1974-1976 and then went on to establish the Social Democrat Party after being President of the EU Commission. Jenkins is often seen as responsible for the most wide-ranging social reforms of the late 1960s.
