Description

The State Opening of Stormont Parliament in December 1965. We see the full pomp and ceremony of the event. Governor Erskine inspects the Navy Guard of Honour. 

Notes

The general election of November 1965 resulted in a majority for the Ulster Unionist Party but the last in which it won win the majority of the votes.

John Maxwell Erskine, 1st Baron Erskine of Rerrick, GBE, KStJ, JP, DL, FRSE (14 December 1893 – 14 December 1980) was a Scottish banker. He acted as Governor of Northern Ireland from 1964 to 1968.
