Description

This filmed report for the UTV news shows a protest taking place by mothers and children at Victoria Park Halt, today renamed as Sydenham station. The mothers felt they had been forced into blocking the track with rubbish and obstructions as the railway authorities hadn’t taken their concerns over track safety seriously. A young child had recently died on the line and the residents felt that greater security was required in terms of fencing to protect children who were playing in the area. Reporter Lesley Dawes spoke to Isobel Lemon who represented the concerned residents.
