Slum clearance is ongoing in 1965 Belfast. This is what is left of California Street in the Carrick Hill area. Mrs Loughlin tells Jimmy Robinson that she doesn’t want to leave the area. Mrs Lawlor feels the same way although her house is in a state. Both women want to stay where they were born and reared rather than move out to west Belfast.
