Express Yourself Café is a creative community of adults with learning disabilities. The group’s aim is to express themselves by using art, and to foster social connections and friendships. This short film profiles the group’s work for consideration in the 2024 Creative Lives Awards – an annual event that celebrates creative groups that enhance people’s lives across Ireland and the United Kingdom. 

Express Yourself Café seeks to empower and promote self-advocacy for its members and their families. Through social events such as the arts and crafts events, Black Moon disco, and educational trips to various locations around N. Ireland, Express Yourself Café provides its members with an opportunity for socialising and expression. At the 2024 Creative Lives Awards, the group was joint winner of the Celebrating Diversity Award, recognising the organisation’s important work.
