Description

ITN’s Dateline programme visits Northern Ireland to cover the Stormont parliament elections. PM Terence O’Neill talks of the Unionist manifesto, based on economic development. He saw the border as a dated issue but had called the election at this time to avoid the ‘emotions’ of the 1916 anniversary.

Eddie McAteer of the Nationalist Party is also interviewed. He foresaw a chance in government in time.

For the Northern Ireland Labour Party, Tom Boyd outlines the case for their election. He is not positive about the idea of coalition.

A vox pop on the streets of Belfast shows a certain amount of apathy.
