Description

In May 1990, the Church of Ireland's General Synod approved the ordainment of women as priests and bishops. The following month Reverends Irene Templeton and Kathleen Young became the first female priests in Ireland. They were ordained at St Anne's Cathedral in Belfast. Today, about one in five Church of Ireland clergy are women. This report details reaction to the news, though despite the topic, no women appear to have been asked for their opinion.
