Description

In 1997, women make up half of the workforce in Northern Ireland. But there are major discrepencies in pay, with women earning 20% less than men.

As this report explains, the Equal Opportunities Commission is highlighting the need for a change in the culture, including clarification of the Equal Pay Act and the need for employers to regularly review their payscales. There is some good news, however. More employers are getting on board with the Commission's aims and actively engaging with its recommendations.
