Description

In this episode of Kelly talk show Gerry meets Col James Irwin, an American astronaut who was one of the people that walked on the Moon in 1971. Irwin talks about the mission, how to get on the programme as well as his religious beliefs.

In the second part of the programme Kelly delves into the mysteries of fortune telling with the help of his psychic guests - a clairvoyant Hamilton Farmer, a palmist Lynn Ervine, a tarot card reader Robert Smith and tealeaf reading Maisie Pritchard.

In the last part of the show Kelly welcomes Jon Amiel, director of a popular TV series ‘Singing Detective’, who talks of his transition to the big screen with his new comedy ‘Queen of Hearts’. Finally, as it is an anniversary of the birth of Elvis Presley, Gerry presents his own tribute to the King of Rock and Roll with a performance of Elvis Presley impersonator Frank Chism. Frank also offers a glimpse into his extensive Elvis wardrobe. The show features performances by the resident duo Bacaan and band Living in the Box.

Notes

The programme includes a short archive excerpt of NASA’s 1971 Moon landing 00:00:56 – 00:01:10, and a short clip from 1989 Jon Amiel’s comedy ‘Queen of Hearts’ 00:42:25 – 0041:16 (CH4, Nelson Entertainment, TVS Television).

A selection of archive photographs of the Berlin Wall is shown during Bacaan’s performance.
