Description

Kelly’s People ‘On Tour’ comes from Magee College Campus in Derry/ Londonderry and the topic of the evening are the very many Ulster accents. 

Kelly’s first guests are the stars of popular radio comedy drama ‘The McCooeys’, its creator Joseph Tomelty and his daughter Roma. The McCooey focused on the lives of a working-class Belfast family and was one of the most successful programmes in Northern Ireland running from 13th of May 1949 until the 1st of April 1955.

Audience members represent a spread of Northern Irish accents and include some well-known characters such as the fast-talking man from Strabane George Cunningham, Tom McDevitte aka Barney McCool, comedian Leila Webster, Liam Kelly and the Larne Folklore Society, Thomas Kelly, Tom Strain and many others. The programme also includes a performance by The Bogmen duo.
