Description

The fighting Turkington brothers were a force on the Irish boxing scene in the 1960s. Henry and his younger brother by two years, Billy, were often as keen to scrap with each other according to legend so it makes sense that they are seen sparring with each other in this footage. They hailed from Ballyclare and famously both won All Ireland Junior titles on the same night at different weights. Their trainer was Coe McConnell who ran a gym in his house in Doagh, Co Antrim, so it’s very likely that this is where this footage was shot.
