Description

Adrian Logan interviews Belfast boxer Hugh Russell for Good Evening Ulster about his decision to retire from boxing, aged just 25. Russell had been a British Bantamweight champion before switching weights to the Flyweight division. At this weight he again became British champion but, after qualifying to keep the Lonsdale champion's belt by winning the title and defending it twice, he decided to step away from the sport. He talks about his highlights in boxing and why he felt it was the sensible decision to perhaps retire a little too early rather than a little too late.
