Description

BMX bikes were one of the most iconic images of the 1980s and their popularity quickly evolved beyond tricks into a competitive sport. Adrian Logan was on hand for Good Evening Ulster in 1986 to report on teenage bikers from Northern Ireland as they competed to qualify for the world championships.

A representative of the sport recounts how four local riders finished in the top eight at the recent UK Championship and young George Gordon is interviewed about representing Northern Ireland. The report includes some excellent shots of the bikes jumping against the skyline over the special course in an image that will bring memories of 1980s youth back to many.
