In the third year of the Rathmullan Film Challenge, amateur filmmakers were given 15 pieces of film from the UTV Archive and creative and editing training from Póca Productions. The task was to create a completely new piece, telling an original story – this year, as Gaelige.
Of working on his film, An Aigéan (The Ocean) Cormac said: I enjoyed this project. My aim was to create a story with music and film. When I saw all the archive footage, I knew what kind of story I wanted to make. For comedy, I wanted to hide the names of Irish actors in the story like Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan.
Bhain mé an sult as an tionscnamh seo. An aidhm a bhí agam agus mé ag crúthú an scannán seo ná scéal a chrúthu le ceol. Nuair a chaith mé súil ar an ábhar cartlainne, bhí fhios agam cén sort scéal a bhí mé ag iarraidh a insint. Ar mhaithe le píósa chraic, bhí mé ag iarraidh aimneacha aisteoirí Éireannacha a chuir i bhfolach sa scéal, cosúil le Paul Mescal agus Barry Keoghan.
