Description

A report by Kate Smith for Good Evening Ulster on the official opening of a new housing development for the disabled in Belfast. Belfast Lord Mayor Alfie Ferguson is present to cut the ribbon in Conway Street before handing over the keys to the first resident. The development was the idea of the Habinteg Housing Association, who envisage disabled people leading fuller lives thanks to housing specially designed for their needs and requirements.

A resident who is a wheelchair user speaks of her joy at having a bungalow, and demonstrates using a cooker positioned at a convenient height for her. A representative of Habinteg speaks about having learned lessons from an earlier development at Poleglass and how this new housing area is better as a result.
