This report covers a volunteer course offered in Havelock
House, the former headquarters of Ulster Television. as part of efforts to make
UTV a more inclusive workplace. It is the first broadcaster in the UK to offer
such a course to its employees and demonstrates a growing awareness of
inclusivity in the workforce.
The course is led by John Carberry, Northern Ireland's pre-eminent campaigner for deaf awareness. The tireless campaigner taught UTV employees sign language in a series of sessions. They were extremely popular classes. This report features an interview with Carberry and various attendees.
