Description

This film is one of a series of clips from the Campbell Collection about gliding and aviation whic shows a group of gliding enthusiasts from the Ulster Gliding and Aviator Club. In its first active year, 1931, the club owned two gliders. After an ill-omened beginning, where a group inspects a crashed glider, the clip shows two successful glides over a rural valley. Spectacular.

The film was probably shot by John Dermot Campbell and it is part of the Campbell Family Collection.

Notes

The Campbell Family Collection contains several clips relating to gliding and early aviation in Northern Ireland and England.
