Description

A college football match at Winchester College. In the opening of the clip, Winchester College students march towards the camera wearing matching scarfs and jumpers. Boys wearing stripey shirts are getting ready for the game to commence. As they all chase after the ball the audience of family and friends behind the fence looks on and cheers its support. 

Winchester College Football is the school’s own version of rugby. 

The film is part of the Campbell Family Collection.

 

 



Notes

Gary went to Winchester Colleg, a public school in Hampshire.. In 1952, at the age of 18 years old, he was commissioned in the service of the 1st King's Dragoon Guards.

He gained the rank of Captain between 1954 and 1963 in the North Irish Horse (Territorial Army.) He was a director of Henry Campbell & Company Ltd between 1957 - 1972 and a chairman of Henry Campbell Group Ltd between 1972 and 1981.
