Description

Sports clothing was different in 1930. The clip begins with a man putting on suit coat over his bathing suit. Women wear dark bloomer-style bathing costumes with hats for swimming. The shallow diving board is at Pan’s Rock in Ballycastle.

Later, the bathing party makes its way back from the sea, more warmly dressed for September on the North Antrim coast. Des and Joseph McConnell, brother and father of Pat Campbell, also appear in this clip as they walk down the coastal path. Joseph McConnell was an MP for Antrim and can be spotted here wearing a three-piece suit with a hat and a cane.

The film is part of the Campbell Family Collection.
