Description

Following a narrow defeat to Spain at the 1986 World Cup, Northern Ireland then knew that they faced an uphill battle to qualify for the next round – they must get a positive result against the mighty Brazil. Despite this, the mood of the travelling Northern Ireland fans – including one dressed in the sweltering conditions as a green Santa Claus – remained upbeat. But that’s what football is all about – always having that hope.
