In May of 1986 only Unionist politicians were taking their seats in the Stormont Assembly and using it as a vehicle to outline their continued protests against the Anglo-Irish Agreement. However, rumours were circulating that the Assembly was on the brink of being dissolved by Tom King, secretary of state for Northern Ireland.
This Good Evening Ulster report interviews Mr King, who says that no decision has been made on dissolution but suggests that without any normal business being conducted by the Assembly he may be forced to make a decision within weeks. Unionist leaders James Molyneaux and Ian Paisley are also interviewed on the subject.
