Description

Rushes from an Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) meeting about their opposition to the Anglo-Irish Agreement, part of the 'Ulster Say's No' campaign.

Notes

The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) is a unionist political party in Northern Ireland.

Having gathered support in Northern Ireland during the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, the party governed Northern Ireland between 1921 and 1972. It was supported by most unionist voters throughout the Troubles, during which time it was often referred to as the Official Unionist Party (OUP).

Ulster Says No was the name and slogan of a unionist mass protest campaign against the provisions of the 1985 Anglo-Irish Agreement which gave the government of the Republic of Ireland an advisory role in the governance of Northern Ireland. The Ulster Says No campaign was led by Democratic Unionist Party leader Ian Paisley
