Description

As the first anniversary of the Anglo-Irish Agreement drew near, Kate Smith made this report for Good Evening Ulster on the response to it by the socialist Workers' Party. Spokesperson Dessie O'Hagan is not impressed by the achievements of the Agreement and, although his party agreed to back it the previous year, he now feels that it should be suspended for a period of time to allow all parties to gather once more for round-table talks.

He is also scathing of the leaders of both loyalism and republicanism and argues that the elements are in place for a potential Lebanon-style civil conflict. He believes that the way out of that potential outcome is for workers to join together by class rather than to divide along sectarian lines.
