Description

A report by Ivan Little for Good Evening Ulster on a programme of action announced at a press conference by the Ulster Clubs, led by Alan Wright. The Ulster Clubs was a collection of groups which had sprung up in the mid-80s under various initial names, before becoming a more cohesive organisation in opposition to the Anglo-Irish Agreement, and with an estimated 20,000 members.

At their press call they announced the first nine of their planned points of action in protest to the Agreement, with civil disobedience measures such as withholding TV licence payments. While stressing that the protests should be peaceful at this stage Wright refused to rule out different forms of resistance if the political and peaceful methods were to fail.
