Description

A Good Evening Ulster report on the first Ulster Resistance Rally, held the previous night at Belfast's Ulster Hall as part of continued protests against the Anglo-Irish Agreement. 4,000 people attended, including Unionist politicians, Orange Order members, clergymen and members of the Ulster Clubs. The leader of the Clubs, Alan Wright, spoke from the stage and those present pledge to resist the Anglo-Irish Agreement by 'all means necessary'.

Uniformed members of the resistance, wearing red berets, can be seen marching at the front of the Ulster Hall, but Ian Paisley and Peter Robinson refuse to comment on suggestions that the group had paramilitary overtones. Sean Farren of the SDLP voices his concerns about the military trappings.
