Description

Ken Reid reports for UTV Live in London as a delegation from Sinn Féin makes history by entering Downing Street for talks. Without any decommissioning having taking place, this is a huge gamble for prime minister Tony Blair and large crowds of protestors are gathered outside.

Afterwards Gerry Adams holds a press conference on the street outside Number 10 and speaks of the positive talks. Ian Paisley is interviewed, and expresses total opposition to the talks taking place. Ken Maginnis of the UUP accuses Adams of showboating. However, Mo Mowlam defends the talks and says she is taking an extra step for peace. If she is wrong about Sinn Féin and the IRA, she says, she will have to live with it.
