Description

Letitia Fitzpatrick reports on this final Sinn Féin press conference, just days before the Referendum on the Good Friday Agreement. Gerry Adams addresses the issue of decommissioning, saying that he will use his influence with the IRA but praising the fact that they have been silenced in the meantime.

He addresses the issue of released IRA prisoners appearing triumphantly at the recent Sinn Féin Ard Fheis, which caused outrage in Unionist circles, admitting that he misjudged the emotion of the moment. He also talks of the future and of wanting to speak to David Trimble.
